Natural Stone an environmental and friendly material
The alternative natural stone
The choice of building materials and decoration has been conditioned by purely economic and technical requirements; only rarely considering their impact on the environment and health. At the time of Sustainable Development, it is self-evident and concepts of ecology, protection of natural resources and CO2 emissions resonate in the everyone s minds, many of us are changing our behavior as buyers and consumers.
An environmentally friendly material?
It is generally defined as "green materials" materials that contribute to reduce the imprint on the environment. It is often materials from renewable resources and energy efficient who does not generate toxic waste at end of life.
An ecological material?
To produce 1m3 concrete it requires 100 more energy than 1m3 stone. That is why the use of the natural stone in the continuous construction reduces CO2 emissions.
Stone and Energy
How the natural stone answers the environmental expectations of today?
Semantically speaking, it is advisable to distinguish first the "natural" stone, by opposition to other stony types such as the reconstituted stone, which are not "natural". Contrary to reconstituted stones, the natural stone is an ecological material, constituted essentially by natural minerals. It is very recyclable and is, contrary to wood, rot-proof and insensible in the attacks of insects, termites, or rodents.
In its "finished" version the natural stone does not pollute more, in the sense or the stages of its processing, present an almost nonexistent shape of pollution and an expense of minimal energy. The sawing and the cutting of blocks, for example, require no specific processing and thus produce no toxic emanation, as it is often the case with other materials. It constitutes therefore, a credible alternative in the domains of the construction, the development, and some decoration.
And the consumers do not make a mistake there. We observe it with the strong comeback of the natural stone in the housing environment. Rehabilitated, it is trendy. it is the " top material of the future " as underlines the architect Gilles Perraudin, and will be necessarily the top material of the XXIth century if humans want to protect their living conditions on earth by saving the energy necessary for the construction ".
Our efforts in this direction
How to make even more?
Our commitments aim at reducing at the most our negative impact on the environment, by setting up an environmental management, which allows us to identify the impact of each of our activities on the environment. In respect for the possibilities which are ours, we try hard to propose products environment-friendly, made from recyclable or biodegradable materials. High ecological value-added products which the process of manufacturing and use damage the least possible the environment.
To know more about it on our values and how we manage:
- The choice of materials
- The conditioning (packaging)
- The management of transport
